Candy. Creativity that captivates.

The Law Society is a respected, authoritative and supportive organisation producing highly valued information and support for its members. But there are huge demands on members, from all sources. Every day they are exposed to hundreds of different messages – from colleagues to clients, from marketers to news outlets. Messages 24/7 on their phones, their laptops, in print, on TV and in the outside world. In such a diverse, fragmented and demanding environment, simply producing the required material is not enough. The Law Society needs to engage with members and stakeholders using creativity and imagination.

Engaging means compelling stories and vital information.

Creativity means contemporary imagery and ideas.

Imagination means fully exploiting AI and the fourth wave of digital.

The Candy Collective will not just deliver the branding, communications and design services you need, but with its team of experienced award-winning creatives, the creativity and imagination you need to cut through, engage and impress. It’s creativity that captivates.

This document provides our formal response to The Law Society in respect of Lot 1 – Design and Print and Lot 2 – Video and Audio Content and Creation.

As already detailed in the two-page Management Summary we have provided, our Senior Team have a 20-year track record, yet our senior-only team ensures that they are always up with the zeitgeist and keep up to speed with the leading edge of technologies, ideas, and insights. We ensure all deliverables are highly actionable, aligning brand strategy with business strategy to help organisations grow. We are quick, nimble, and have a service standard that is second to none, allowing clients to enjoy not only the results of our work, but the entire collaborative process.

For Professional Bodies and Membership organisations that often includes engagement and immersion into member groups to ensure that we have their buy in, support and adoption of the campaigns we create and implement. All of this ensures that The Law Society gets a highly senior, experienced, brand communications savvy and capable team developing the campaign on a highly cost-effective basis.

The Candy Collective relevant market sector experience.

Over the past few years we have created and delivered brand and marketing for organisations such as Intel, The University of Sussex, BPP University, Equinti (EQPay), The Law Society and RICS. Each of these projects was designed to shift perceptions and change attitudes to the brand. We don’t believe in elusive executives; instead, our Senior Team is your day-to-day team – intimately involved in the big picture thinking and the detailed execution. Who you see, is who you get. In addition to this, we have a wide range of specialists we can draw on as the precise requirements of each project become clear – which adds to our agility on every brand we work for. You get exactly the right team for what you need, and you don’t pay for people who aren’t really adding any value.

We understand how Professional Bodies and Membership organisations work and some of the challenges that exist in organisations with members. We have actually delivered this precise scope of work for very similar organisations. All of this will enable us to hit the ground running from day one and will enable us to bring a wide range of rich learnings and experience to The Law Society – saving time and reducing costs.

Below are some case studies which cover Lot 1: Design & Print
and Lot 2: Video and Audio Content and Creation

Intel Digital Demos for the Mobile World Congress

What if we prioritise access over immersion?

Many tech brands are reliant on face-to-face, ‘brand in hand’ live experiences to demonstrate their innovation in action. So what happens when the world locks down? With social distancing and travel bans in place, live experiences ceased entirely, accelerating innovation in online digital storytelling that can transcend time and place. Through an ongoing series of films, web-interactives and AR experiences we helped make complex tech stories simpler and more accessible, sustaining marketing momentum throughout a global pandemic. Creativity, craft and innovation. With the web as our platform, storytelling became more succinct, more accessible and more sustainable, whilst provoking limitless sharing and unlocking exceptional reach.

Recognising members’ achievements and their contribution to the profession, and society as a whole, is a key strategic priority for the Law Society. The Candy Collective were commissioned to help rebrand the event and create all the marketing and design assets – bringing a fresh new approach to the awards.

A Revolution in Online Learning

BPP University made history by becoming the first publicly owned company in the UK to obtain degree awarding powers. It has around 21,000 students, studying across 13 centres, in eight locations across England and online around the world. 78% are full-time, over 83% are on postgraduate programmes. This tight budget, fast turnaround project for BPP University was a true demonstration of our ability to deliver against the odds. We opted to use kinetic typography and motion graphics to bring to life the client’s message. This dynamic effect perfectly showcased the benefits of BPP’s Online Classroom Live products.

University of Sussex – Impossible Until It’s Done

The university were launching new research centres of excellence and wanted a unifying concept to promote the new centres and help re-establish Sussex as a major research university. One that explained its driving philosophy. For that we went back to the history of Sussex and its pivotal role in the ending of Apartheid and its close links to Nelson Mandela. It was this line, “everything is impossible until it’s done” and attributed to Mandela which became the central theme running through all launch activity.

Reel – Film Production Partners

REEL operates as a collective; a team of specialists in film production disciplines all with digital production backgrounds. We’ve done our time on film sets as Crew, Producers and Directors. In post houses as offline editors and in broadcast studios as visual effects hero’s. We’ve also worked with some of the worlds biggest global brands. But most importantly, we’ve worked in agencies; we’ve been in your shoes so we know how difficult it is to deliver digital film content using traditional production companies. The essence of REEL is that we are collaborators. Complementing our core team is a network of talented creatives spanning multiple disciplines. This means we can adapt and flex to create the most efficient team for your project, running as lean or strong as required, and we can do all this while collaborating with you directly.

This grand site was built and completed in an extremely short period of time. All Olympic footage used in this Case Study is owned by the BBC. We were asked to create a case study film showing this amazing site.

DP World – McLaren F1

We created a dramatic, 3 part trailer track for this film for DP World, supporting the tension of the dark, heist style photography. Interestingly, we also created an AI voice from scratch. We bet you couldn’t tell.

Ford – Our Time

This film for Ford needed to be localised for France, Germany, Italy and Spain alongside the English version. We cast all voices, using voice directors for each language to take the pressure off the agency and brand’s local marketing teams. We then mixed for broadcast. We also provided the bespoke music score via Thirty Two Music.
